New Year, New Job – a Guide to Working with a Staffing Agency

December 13th, 2018

guide-working-staffing-agency

If you’re looking for a new job this holiday season, have you considered talking with a local staffing agency to help you in your search? Dedicated recruiting professionals are always seeking qualified candidates to present for their clients’ open positions. How do you begin working with a recruiter? Here are some tips to get you started with a staffing agency this month and into the New Year.

Complete the online application process.

Most agencies utilize an online application process for initial intake. This allows them to receive your resume and additional pertinent information to help them make a match between you and an open position. Your first step to working with an agency is to complete the process thoroughly to demonstrate that you are able to follow directions and are detail oriented.

Schedule an interview with a recruiter.

Once your application has been reviewed, you will be contacted by the recruiter to schedule an interview. This initial phone call is as important as the face-to-face meeting as it will allow you to learn more about the agency’s process and their open positions and specializations. It will also give you a chance to ask any questions of your own.

Attend the interview and complete skills assessment.

It’s imperative if you want to build a positive relationship with your recruiter that you attend the interview. Arrive on time to make a great first impression. The recruiter will ask questions about your background to make notes that will help them find you the right placement. You will also be asked to complete skills assessments using a computer-based testing program. Some companies handle the assessments in-house while others will send you access to online testing.

Be honest throughout the process.

The most important thing to keep in mind throughout the entire process is to be honest. Not only do you need to be honest about your skills and background, but also about what you’re looking for in your next job. The recruiter needs the truth to make there right matches for your skills and interests. This also applies to the skills assessments. Especially when conducted online, your recruiter is trusting you to have integrity in the process.

StrengthsFinder Series: Belief – Defined Core Values

December 6th, 2018

Meador Staffing Belief StrengthsFinder

Belief – People exceptionally talented in the Belief theme have certain core values that are unchanging. Out of these values emerges a defined purpose for their lives.

Belief Theme in Business

Belief is a powerful tool. If you believe in your company, then you will stand beside every decision made and head into battle to reach the end goal. If you believe in your team, you will knock down doors and go through walls to ensure your teammates have the support they need, and that you are pulling your load to get the job done. If you believe in yourself, you will never be stuck in the perpetual seeking of motivation that others get tangled in throughout their professional careers and personal lives.

Emerging in Leadership

Unchanging is an incredibly powerful word. People that have Belief in their Top 5 Strength Themes will tell you that they have an unwavering sense of what is right and what is wrong. This strength manifests itself as an Executing Theme, meaning it doesn’t just sit around and wait for others to act. Belief takes action when others won’t or can’t. Belief is the driving force of a supervisor to take hold of the yoke alongside her team and push the load up and over the hill. Belief resides in the heart of the young business owner who had no clue what he was doing when he opened his doors in the Winter of 1968, but that Belief is what carried Mr. Meador and Meador Staffing Services into 50 years of business and a legacy in the city of Pasadena that will never be forgotten. It should be no surprise that 10 of our team members have the Belief theme in their top 5 strengths, with 5 of our employees having Belief as their top strength; most in a leadership role. This is the consistency and inspirational force that echoes throughout the organization.

Belief in Action

During this holiday season, belief is in the hearts of many. It is what the holidays should be about. If we stay within the realm of Clifton’s Strengthsfinder, and put on our goggles that highlight this theme, we’d see a man sitting in a chair, volunteering his time to supply joy to children as they sit on his lap and tell him their desires for Christmas morning. We would see a mother pick up multiple shifts to ensure her children get the Christmas that she knows they deserve. We would see strangers come together to provide meals for those that are not as fortunate as themselves, and thus creating a ripple of belief within those that they’ve just touched.

Our strengths are solid. They may shift a few spots with major life situations, but those that have a foundation that can’t be rocked will find Belief near the top no matter the circumstances. As we get closer to Christmas Day, and seek the joys of the holiday season with those around us; be reminded of the ultimate story of Belief. The belief that love is greater than anything. That giving is at the heart of love. “That God so loved the world that he gave…” We know the rest of the story, but it didn’t say God so loved the world that he took. So, I implore you this holiday season to put on your StrengthsFinder goggles, and be on the lookout for belief in action. Because what I believe you will find is love and kindness permeating throughout our cities. And if you look up and don’t see anything, then I encourage you to believe in something greater than only yourself, and reach out to a stranger and show them the love that you believe will change their lives for the better.

A Service Process to Calm Your Nerves about a New Employee

December 6th, 2018

Hiring a new employee can be a difficult thing. You never know if someone is going to be the right fit or if they’ll be qualified for the opportunity, no matter what you do to vet them ahead of time. There is some comforting news. If you partner with a staffing agency to bring on your new team member, you will have the satisfaction of their service process to help ease the experience. Here are the things you can expect from our team when you hire a new employee though Meador Staffing.

Provide details to each qualified candidate.

Know that prior to starting their assignment, your new employee will be provided with all of the most important details regarding your company and the specific position. We want to ensure that your new team member, whether short or long term, is prepared to make an immediate and positive impact on your organization.

Follow up with candidate ahead of start time.

We also provide a quick follow up at least one hour before their scheduled start time to make sure they are prepared. We can verify any directions to ensure an on-time arrival and answer any questions that will help them before they show up on their first day. This process is intended to provide peace of mind for our clients as well as our employees.

Check in with the client regarding candidate arrival.

You will also receive a follow up after the start time to ensure that your new team member arrived safety to your workplace. If you have a large group project scheduled to start, we can send a team member to check each employee in on-site so your company does not need to accommodate the influx on your own.

Consistent monitoring through the duration of the assignment.

For every employee assigned to your company, our team will follow up with you on a regular basis to ensure they are meeting your requirements and expectations. This way we can address performance issues in a timely manner and make any adjustments along the way.
