Tips for Interviewing

Interviewing Do's and Don'ts

Never chew gum, smoke or chew tobacco during the interview.  You may not notice that your clothes and hair smell like smoke, but non-smokers notice immediately.  Many companies only hire non-smokers.  They are more productive and do not have to take smoke-breaks. Turn off pagers and mobile phones.

If you are offered a cup of coffee at your interview, refuse.  You are nervous enough as it is; there is no need to worry about balancing a cup or trembling.

Don't be self-conscious about your age; be confident and poised.  Maturity is the way you act, not a number.

One of the worst flaws in interviewing is lack of eye contact.  Looking away whether up or down leads the interviewer to believe you have something to hide.

If the only question you have is, "What are the benefits?" - don't ask!  Show you are interested in the position not just the benefits.  Ask questions about the positions.
