About our presenter:
Trisha Barita is the Managing Attorney of the Barita Law Firm, PLLC. She is a 15 year licensed attorney practicing business and employment law all over the state of Texas with offices in Downtown Houston and League City. She has represented anywhere from small local businesses to large national corporations in employment matters with the Texas Workforce Commission, Equal Employment Opportunity, OFCCP or Department of Labor in consulting matters, investigations related to employees, administrative matters and litigation. During this process, Trisha also develops a consistent approach for her clients on how to handle human resource (HR) issues such as hiring, discipline, termination, and effective employee evaluations. Throughout the consultation and representation process, she has advised clients on employment policies and procedure for employee handbooks for her corporate and business clients.
She also handles her business and corporate clients needs regarding contract negotiations with other businesses and governmental entities. She assists clients with drafting many contract terms including tailoring the contract to protect from vicarious liability of independent contractors and employees, covenants not to compete, and fair business dealings. She also drafts and interprets employment agreements that limit her business and corporate clients’ liability in areas of non-disclosure, covenants not to compete, or a contract breach.
She was the National Association of Women Business Owner (NAWBO)– Houston Chapter’s President 2015-16 and selected as NAWBO’s Women of Excellence in 2016. She has also been chosen as a Rising Star for Super Lawyers in 2018 and 2019 that recognizes no more than 2.5 percent of attorneys in the State of Texas. She regularly provides speeches for the Small Business Development Center associated with the University of Houston Bauer College as well as other business employer groups and Chambers in the Houston and surrounding areas.
When not running her own Law Firm, she enjoys doing competitive cookoffs with her husband of 12 years, Peter, and is running around after her 4 year old girl twins, Elizabeth & Olivia.
